With extensive experience in the digital asset space, Petri Basson has honed a unique skill set that bridges finance and IT. His journey began in 2017 when he helped establish KPMG’s Digital Asset practice in the Cayman Islands, navigating the intersection of technology and finance. As a prominent figure in the blockchain community, Petri spearheaded the creation of the Blockchain Association, where he led industry consultations and fostered dialogue with government and regulatory bodies. His expertise extends to DAOs and Foundations, where he’s tackled challenges ranging from regulatory actions to community management, hacks, governance design and much more.  He is the Founder of Hash Directors and a co-founder of Lemma and Provenance Compliance.  

Petri’s passion for personal growth shines through in his pursuits outside of work. In 2017, he set out to read a book a week, documenting his journey through weekly videos to keep himself accountable to finish the challenge. When he’s not immersed in self-improvement, he explores unconventional health practices like saunas, ice baths, and Jiu-Jitsu, or engages in rucking. 

At the core of Petri’s work lies a strong belief in the transformative power of blockchain and decentralized finance. Beyond financial success, he is driven by a vision of a fairer, more inclusive future. He has volunteered hundreds of hours with organizations like the Cryptocurrency Security Standard and the Blockchain Association, championing ethical practices and community-led initiatives.  

Petri also hosts the Decentralized Podcast, where he engages with leading voices in the Web3 space to explore its future evolution. For him, success is not solely about monetary gains, but about making a meaningful impact and guiding teams and founders with integrity and purpose.
