Ruan is a versatile professional with a broad background in law, tax, and compliance, driven by a passion for navigating complex regulatory environments and discovering innovative solutions. His career journey has taken him from general litigation to corporate tax, allowing him to develop valuable expertise in managing commercial and tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and corporations. In recent years, his focus has shifted toward anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance, especially  digital assets within the FinTech sector. 

He holds multiple qualifications that highlight his commitment to professional excellence: he is an admitted attorney (BA-Law, LLB(SA)), a Certified AML Fintech Compliance Associate (ACAMS), Fellow of the International Compliance Association (ICA), in addition to being a Certified Bitcoin Professional (C4) and a TRM Crypto Compliance Specialist. He is also a member of several prestigious associations, including the American Bar Association, the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, Compliance Institute of South Africa (CISA) and the Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa. His expertise has been further recognized through his designation as a CryptoCurrency Security Standard Auditor (CCSSA) and his admission as an attorney to the High Court of South Africa. He is proud to have been inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society for his academic achievements in law.

His current work is focused on AML and compliance, with a particular emphasis on digital assets for FinTechs and funds, where he helps businesses meet regulatory requirements and manage risks effectively.

Outside of his professional life, he enjoys exploring new cuisines, staying active with outdoor adventures, and engaging in cultural experiences. He’s also passionate about perfecting his skills in smoking meat—whether it’s chicken or the perfect crispy pork belly. These pursuits help him find balance and bring fresh perspectives to his work and life.
